Jim Christian

Tinkerer, educator, and builder of useful things.

Valencia, Spain

I've spent three decades helping people make sense of complex systems. Now I build AI tools and teach others to do the same.

What I Do

I build MCP servers that connect AI assistants to real-world services, automation workflows that save hours of manual work, and systems that make AI useful instead of just impressive.

I teach through the Signal Over Noise newsletter, through coaching, and through consulting — the goal is always the same: help you understand complex systems well enough to make them work for you.

The tools I build are open source, the workflows I test get documented, and the failures are just as public as the wins. I'd rather you learn from my experiments than repeat them.

How I Work

Integration Over Capability

The most powerful AI tool is worthless if it doesn't fit your workflow. I focus on implementation that survives model changes and tool updates. Principles over prompts.

Test Before Recommending

Every tool and technique I recommend has been tested in my own production workflows. I don't share press releases. I share what actually works when you need to get real work done.

Fail Transparently

I share failures as much as successes because knowing what doesn't work saves you time — no curated highlight reel, just real experiments with real outcomes.

No Hype

I'm allergic to buzzwords and empty promises. If something isn't ready for production use, I'll say so. If it's overhyped, I'll call it out. Your time is too valuable for theater.

Beyond Work

Born in the US, grew up in the UK, now based in Valencia, Spain with my family.

When I'm not testing AI tools, you'll find me running D&D campaigns (surprisingly good for testing creative AI applications), exploring the Spanish coast, or figuring out yet another piece of Spanish bureaucracy.
